About the Burkittsville Ruritan Club
Chartered on June 23, 1953, the Burkittsville Ruritan Club has worked for over sixty years to live out the Ruritan mission of promoting goodwill, fellowship, and community service. Our many annual events, including the carnival, country butcherings and breakfasts, hunters safety education, and others provide services to our neighbors while also raising funds which the club contributes to numerous causes and charities each year. With an average membership of fifty, Burkittsville Ruritan is among the larger clubs in our district and we are growing with new members each year. Members of the Ruritan Club become part of a group of dedicated individuals who strive to see opportunities for helping improve our community and our rural heritage.
How to get involved
Joining the Ruritan is easy. Attend one of our meetings (fourth Tuesdays of the months Jan-Jun, Sep-Nov) and meet some of our members. If you determine that you would like to participate in our mission, ask a member to provide you with a membership form. That member will become your sponsor and will submit your form to the Membership Committee. Once approved by the club, you immediately become a member of Ruritan!
