Our Mission:Established in 1953, the Burkittsville Ruritan Club is dedicated to promoting goodwill, fellowship, and community service. We welcome all people who want to better their community to join us in achieving this mission.
Schedule of Meetings:
The Burkittsville Ruritan Club meets on the fourth Tuesday of each month (excluding July, August, and December) at 6:30 pm.
The Board of Directors meets on the second Tuesday of each month at 6:30 pm.

Upcoming Events:Burkittsville Community Halloween PartyThe Burkittsville Ruritan Club will sponsor a family Halloween Party following Trick-or-Treat throughout the town on Friday, October 31, 2025. Trick-or-Treat is from 5pm to 7pm, at which time the party will begin at the Ruritan Community Center. Refreshments and entertainment will be provided. The Ruritan Club thanks the Burkittsville Ruritan Ladies Auxiliary and the Town Government of Burkittsville for their partnership in presenting this annual event.
Country Butchering and BreakfastThe Burkittsville Ruritan Club will be holding our annual Country Butchering during the first week of November. Volunteers are welcomed to help on Wednesday, November 5 and Thursday, November 6 to prepare and fill orders. Pick-Up is Friday, November 7th from 8am to 5pm or Saturday, November 8th from 8am to noon.
Click here to download an order form for the butchering >> On Saturday, November 8, 2025, the Ruritan will hold a Country Breakfast with pancakes, sausage, hominy, pudding, scrambled eggs, and sausage gravy with coffee, orange juice, milk, and water. All-you-can-eat for $12 (children $6) from 6am to 10am.

What is Ruritan? Ruritan is a civic organization whose objectives include creating a greater understanding between rural and urban people on the problems of each as well as on their mutual problems and working with those agencies which serve the community and contribute directly to its progress. It is similar to the service organizations of the cities but designed to meet the needs of rural people and rural communities.
Ruritan was founded in 1928 in Holland, Virginia, where it has grown from the Tidewater area of Virginia to the foot hills of the Rockies: from the Great Lakes to the Gulf of Mexico, and in doing so, has become the largest rural civic organization in America. |
