Established in 1953, the Burkittsville Ruritan Club is dedicated to promoting goodwill, fellowship, and community service. We welcome all people who want to better their community to join us in achieving this mission.

Board of Directors: 2nd Tuesday of the Months at 7:00 pm
Club Meeting: 4th Tuesday of the Months at 6:30 pm
*The club will not meet during the months of June or December.
All upcoming events and meetings of the Burkittsville Ruritan Club are suspended indefinitely, effective March 16, 2020 in accordance with the proclamation of Governor Larry Hogan, the recommendations of Ruritan National Leadership, and in light of direction from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention as our community faces the spread of the COVID-19 virus.
The board of directors of the Burkittsville Ruritan Club is committed to doing our part in stemming the spread of this pandemic. We will closely monitor updates and review the advice of public health officials as we go forward and will announce the resumption of club events and meetings when it is safe to do so.

What is Ruritan?
Ruritan is a civic organization whose objectives include creating a greater understanding between rural and urban people on the problems of each as well as on their mutual problems and working with those agencies which serve the community and contribute directly to its progress. It is similar to the service organizations of the cities but designed to meet the needs of rural people and rural communities.
Ruritan was founded in 1928 in Holland, Virginia, where it has grown from the Tidewater area of Virginia to the foot hills of the Rockies: from the Great Lakes to the Gulf of Mexico, and in doing so, has become the largest rural civic organization in America.
